SPRINGFIELD-David R. Wilson, 70, of 109 Talbot rd. in Springfield passed away unexpectedly on Friday January 5, 2018 after a very brief illness. David was born in Ludlow on January 6, 1947 the son of the late Herbert Wilson Jr. and Dorothy (Miner) Donahue of Agawam. He was raised and educated in Springfield, attending grade schools here and graduating from Commerce High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1964 to 1967. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Honorably discharged, David returned home to Springfield in 1967. He began working at the former Rexcel Company and was a Machine Operator over 20 years before going to work for the Drake Company in Holyoke. He enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley Davidson, especially partaking in the many “Poker” runs in support of local charities. He also was an animal lover and had several cats and dogs. He leaves his wife; Linda (Hubbard) Wilson and his son, Scott David Wilson all at home. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Wilson and a brother, Kenneth Wilson. At David’s request there will be no calling hours and burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dakin Animal Shelter, 171 Union St., Spfld, Mass. 01105. Ratell Funeral Home, Indian Orchard has been entrusted with David’s care and services.
