Doris M. Duval

Doris M. Duval, 87, of Scarsdale Rd., Springfield passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at Willimansett West Nursing Center. Doris was born in Ludlow on Nov. 16, 1933, a daughter to the late Leon and Mary (Jarvais) Duffany. She was raised and educated in Ludlow, graduating from Ludlow High School. She furthered her education, graduating from Springfield Technical Community College with a Degree in Gerontology. In her younger years she worked as a file Clerk for Mass Mutual in Springfield. Doris was a kind soul and loved people. She found her calling when she became the Activities Director for Providence Mother House. She spent 11 wonderful years with Providence and also as the Activities Director for Ring Nursing Center in Springfield. She was a devoted communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Springfield. She had the honor of being in the first graduating class of Eucharistic ministers for St. Catherine’s and they were all awarded a keepsake medallion. Doris and another parishioner were instrumental in establishing the first religious library at St. Catherine of Siena church. Doris loved spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed knitting and loved watching the Red Sox with her entire family. She was predeceased by her sisters; Theresa M. Carey, Eileen Douillard and Dorothy A. Stahl.  Doris leaves her beloved husband of 66 years, Donald K. Duval. Her children; Donna M.  Duval of Chicopee, Danyl R. Duval and his wife Karen of Washington State and Kenneth D.  Duval and his wife Janet Ucello of Florida.  Her grandchildren; Matthew, Nicole and Kelsie, great-grandchildren; Cole and Lucas and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will be held from the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 with Visiting Hours from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Spfld. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Spfld, MA.
