INDIAN ORCHARD -Frederick Richard Palmer Jr. (big Freddy) of Indian Orchard passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday August 7, 2019. Freddy was born May 22, 1946 in Ludlow, Ma to the late Frederick R Palmer Sr and the late Evelyn S. Smith Palmer. He grew up in the Orchard and attended local schools. He was a CDL truck driver until he retired. Freddy was an avid Boston Bruins fan and cherished his dog, Gumba and his late dog Shadow. Freddy’s favorite “happy” place was Otis, Ma where he camped, fished, boated, and enjoyed the outdoors.. Freddy also devoted time each week collecting food for the homeless and delivering it to churches. Freddy was quick witted, always ready with a cute or funny line, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He leaves his wife; Christine Palmer of East Longmeadow, Ma. and her son Donald and Granddaughter Caleigh. His Son Frederick R Palmer III of Springfield. His former wife, Patricia A Palmer of Ludlow, Ma. Siblings; Robert Palmer and his wife Dale of Florida and his sister, Anita Smock of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother, William Palmer. He also leaves his nephews; Christopher Palmer and William Palmer Jr , a niece Kathryn Palmer Kenny as well as great nieces and nephews. He also leaves his longtime friend and brother in law, Patrick McCory and his Goddaughter, Nikki Zuba, and many other family members on his wife’s side, as well as lots of great friends everywhere. A Memorial/Celebration of Life gathering to be announced at a later date. Donations for his funeral expenses can be made to Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, Ma.
