Jeannette Marie~Gabrielle (Bourbeau) MyersMay 3, 1923 ~ December 9, 2017 (age 94)
LUDLOW-Jeannette Marie Gabrielle (Bourbeau) Myers was born just a few minutes after her brother, John, on May 3, 1923 in Ludlow, Massachusetts to the late Albert and Laurea (Alix) Bourbeau. The Lord called her home on Saturday, December 9, 2017. She spent most of her life in Ludlow and was educated in Ludlow Schools, graduating from Ludlow High School. She was never one to sit still and always kept herself busy from a young age. Jeannette volunteered as a Nurse’s Aide during World War II and her love of children led her to work at Ludlow Hospital and Wesson Women’s Hospital in Springfield in the maternity wards. Prior to her getting married she was a Girl Scout Leader. Jeannette married Ernest E. Myers on September 4, 1948. After marrying, she volunteered her time as a 4-H Leader teaching foods and nutrition, canning and serving as a chaperone on many trips. She was a devoted communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow (formerly St. John the Baptist church) and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality for more than 62 years. She had worked at the Springfield Armory and later at New England Dental Lab. Most of her career was at Rexal Inc. in Ludlow, as a Quality Control Inspector where she earned the nickname, “Hawkeye”. She worked there until the age of 62. She enjoyed all needle arts very much and was always trying new crafts. She was most proud of a chair she had caned. After moving to Florida in 2005, she joined the Sunshine State Fiber Guild in Brooksville, and at the age of 89, learned to weave on the American Peg Loom. This was a hobby she really enjoyed and made a rug for each of her children. She loved demonstrating this craft to anyone who wanted to watch or learn. She also loved to embroider and was saddened when she could not complete her last project due to diminishing detailed vision. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved music. She was often seen tapping her hands or feet and keeping rhythm. Jeannette was an adventurer at heart and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Her beloved husband, Ernest E. Myers and a daughter, Lucille A. Myers predeceased her. She leaves her children; Evelyn Mizner and her husband Glen of Arkansas, Raymond and his wife Kimberly of Granby, Philip Myers and his wife Carol LaBrie of Chicopee, Doris Melbourne and her husband James of Florida, Pauline Abert (husband Mark, deceased) of Chicopee, Lucille A.
