Michael  Bremner Collins, 75, passed away July 5, 2021 at home with his wife Cheryl, his sister Kathy and step-daughter Sarah, by his side. Michael's charming and loveable character will be missed and remembered by all those whose life he touched.  Michael served in Vietnam with the Navy Riverboat, completing two tours of duty, the latter for his fellow shipmate. He received several commendations and medals including: the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze star, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960). After his Honorable discharge from the Navy, he owned his own business performing drywall service and construction. Later in life he worked for several local pubs as a friendly bartender throughout Indian Orchard. He loved cooking and every St. Patrick's Day he cooked the annual St. Patty's Day dinner for the patrons at both Pot Belly's Pub and the National House.

Michael leaves his beloved wife, Cheryl Ann Kirk-Collins. His dear step-daughter, Sarah Jean Garay-Torres and her husband Jose Garay-Ortiz and their three children Ahryanna Angeliz, Alexander Jose and his sweet little Annabella Rose. He is also survived by his loving sister, Kathy Ober and her husband Dave Orber of Hamden. He leaves behind a son and two daughters from previous marriages and several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; Thomas Matthew Collins (1965) and Elizabeth Ann Bremner Collins (1975), his brother Thomas Matthew Collins (2020) and sister Patricia Ann Collins Moran (2018).  At the time of his passing Michael was cared for not only by his wife but by Diane Gauthier and many compassionate caregivers from Baystate Hospice. 

Family and friends will gather to remember Michael on Thursday July 8th, 2021 at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main Street, Indian Orchard from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Michael will have a private, immediate family only, committal service with US Navy Military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.

The family is asking no flowers be sent and in donations in his memory be made to Michael’s favorite charities; St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Springfield Shriners Hospital.
