INDIAN ORCHARD-Ruth Ann (Besier) Stromberg, 80, formerly of Myrtle Street, Indian Orchard passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 with her loving family at her side. Ruth was born in Springfield on August 24, 1937 the daughter of the late Francis and Rose (Burek) Beiser. Ruth spent her entire life in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, was raised there and was educated in local schools. She worked for numerous years at the William E. Wright Company. Ruth enjoyed Bingo, painting, coloring and especially watching NASCAR racing on television. Most of all, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, and especially sleepovers at her home with her cherished grandsons. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her twin brother, Richard, her brother Roger, half-sister, Barbara Perusse and her longtime companion, John Sternowski. She leaves her two loving sons; Robert D. Stromberg Jr. and Joanne Shea and Wayne F. Stromberg and his wife Irene (Joao) Stromberg all of Springfield. She also leaves two grandsons; Peter Stromberg and his partner, Shelby McPhee of Fitchburg and Michael Stromberg of Springfield and three grandchildren; Kigan, Kaleb and Leslie Stromberg. She also leaves her former husband, Robert D. Stromberg Sr. of Florida.The family would like to thank all the staff at Wingate at Springfield (2nd Flr) for the care, compassion and dignity they showed Ruth and her family during her stay there and especially in her final days. They would also like to express their appreciation to Beacon hospice and their staff for their kind, helpful assistance and support in her final months. There are no calling hours. The family invites you to join them on Thursday (Jan. 11, 2018) at 11:00 A.M. directly at Island Pond Cemetery, Center St., Ludlow for the Catholic Rite of Committal (Please arrive promptly by 10:50 a.m.) Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester St., Springfield, Ma. 01151. The family has entrusted Ratell Funeral Home in the Orchard with Ruth’s care and services.
